Pinnacles National Park- Choc-a-block 'Chockalapolis' of California
'Flemish Flintstones' National Park
In addition to highlighting the cuisine of Flanders, the various Calidocious monthly holidays are intended to highlight the great outdoors of Northern California- particulary via hikes. The most remarkable hike is in Pinnacles National Park. With a bit of imagination one can compare the medieval skyline of the town center of Brugges- the chocolate capital of Flanders- to the Pinnacles' skyline. Many of the other more modern buildings in Brugges also have counterparts in the park's 'bedrock' formations.

Flemmish Lace (Daucus carota)
In the spring, near the time of Brugges' Chocolate Festival, members of the Belgium Club of Northern California traditionally kick off the summer camping/outdoor season with a trip to the Pinnacles. Highlights of the outing include great chocolate, great food, great hiking, great campfires, and great Belgian 'Brugeski' beer.
In addition to rock formations, the park is famous for its spring wildflowers. "Flemish Lace" wildflowers ( Daucus carota) are everywhere. During the Burgundian era, Flanders was renowned for its lace.
